Jamal Crawford Wants to be Traded

Jamal Crawford won the Sixth Man of the Year award last season. Fitting a specific role for the first time in his career, Crawford finally lived up to his potential. But now the 6-foot-5 guard reportedly wants out. According to ESPN.com, Crawford will soon ask for a trade.

The issue at hand is Crawford wanting a contract extension from the Atlanta Hawks. He’ll be making $10 million this upcoming season — but he wants more money on top in future years. The 30-year-old supposedly wants an extension that will keep him under contract until he’s 34.

While Crawford is a good player, it’s understandable that the Hawks wouldn’t break the bank for him. After signing Joe Johnson this summer for nearly $120 million, it’d be unwise to sign Crawford to big bucks, especially considering that the two players are primarily shooting guards.

Last season, Crawford came off the bench in all 79 games and averaged 18 points, three assists and 2.5 rebounds while shooting 44.9% from the floor, 38.2% from beyond the three-point arc and 85.7% at the line.
