Jake Delhomme the Answer in Cleveland?

The Cleveland Browns desperately need a quarterback to lead the team out of dumps. On Saturday, the Browns may have signed their 2010 starter at quarterback when they inked Jake Delhomme to a deal. The former Carolina Panthers QB signed a two-year deal that will pay him a reported $7 million in 2010.

While Delhomme led the Panthers to the Super Bowl and is still just 35 years old, it’s an odd signing for the Browns. They already have Brady Quinn on the roster and recently traded for Seneca Wallace. Add in the fact that Delhomme was really bad last year and the quarterback position in Cleveland still has more questions than answers.

Last season, Delhomme threw for 2,015 yards and connected on eight touchdowns while getting picked off 18 times. His 59.4 quarterback rating was easily the worst of his career.

Some reports have the Browns looking to trade away Quinn. If that happens, Delhomme becomes the starter and Wallace will back him up and also play some wide receiver.
