Jail time for college baseball players

Well – it’s not just NCAA football and NFL players that are getting in trouble with the law these days. This time – a few Oregon State baseball players were given jail time after pleading guilty to shooting up a neighbor’s house.

Oregon State won two out of the last three College World Series. However, the Beavers missed out on the national tournament this year. Outfielder John Wallace and former pitcher Anton Maxwell are receiving 15 days in jail after the incident. Jorge Reyes, who was the Most Outstanding Player in the 2007 CWS, is expected to enter a plea agreement next month.

From what I’ve read – it seems the players are getting off easy with a 15-day sentence. You have to wonder if OSU head coach Pat Casey will allow Reyes and Wallace to return to the club.
