Everyone is overlooking the Atlanta Hawks this season. They didn’t do much in the offseason but now that the regular season has started, Atlanta is on fire. After beating the Washington Wizards by a final score of 101-83 on Wednesday, the Hawks are now 2-0 with a total margin of victory of 54 points.
The Hawks were led in scoring by Joe Johnson, who scored 18 points and dished off four assists. Marvin Williams chipped in 17 points and eight rebounds.
The Wizards got 20 points and six assists from John Wall and 21 points off the bench from Nick Young but the rest of the team struggled. The Wizards are 0-2 and appear headed to another long season.
As for Atlanta, the playoffs are very likely. Can they at least make it the Eastern Conference Finals this time? Probably not. Then again, the Hawks are so far proving doubters wrong.
