Here’s the next installment on Games Talk.
Taking on the streets of Melbourne during the wee hours of the morning of my first day, I was astounded by what I saw on Franklin Street. On foot, I walk in search of food, which I found in an all-nighter that offers scrambled eggs only if you order two and bread with finger indentations. My head was throbbing with pain due to lack of sleep and my whole body growing numb with the unexpected coldness of the city, literally and figuratively.
Melbourne was then a city asleep but still you can feel the energy like heat from under the skin somewhat indicating that it is rising from its sleep. It’s about to wake up with a start because of all the activities lined up for the day. It was both relaxing and unnerving at the same time.
Just got off the bus when I came into contact with a Uni student my age who was down in Melbourne to see his grandfather who’s an administrator of some kind in the Kenyan Team for the Games. Cool, huh? It must’ve been exciting for him to be in the thick of things when he gets to meet him in the Athlete’s Village for breakfast.
Uh, 8 a.m.? No, thanks. I’d rather find myself sleeping on a proper bed by that time, thank you very much! I reckon he feels the same way. Hahaha.
Anyway, our conversation was cut short by my friend’s car, with Amerie’s 1 Thing Remix blaring from his speakers, screaching to a halt right infront of us. Oh, well. So much for Adelaide’s quiet suburban life for me. I’m in a totally different place now.

[...] 6 a.m. arrived at the Franklin bus station at Melbourne [it’s funny how they name streets the same way. Hahaha.] a little before six so I had to wait for my friend to come pick me up. I wasn’t surprised to find out that he woke up late. Hahaha. I just walked out of the terminal stood on the curb smoking and conversed about education systems in different countries [mainly about the differences between American and British influences] and the Commonwealth Games with a Uni student waiting for his friend to pick him up, too.
