Flames Beat Coyotes, End Losing Streak

Losing 6-3 to the Los Angeles Kings, the worst flipping team in the league, was so horrible that I almost couldn’t blame them for losing to the Anaheim Ducks (4-2) two days later.  My confidence would have been lost too (and rightfully so!).

Kiprusoff managed to stop 24 of 25 shots.  I’m happy.  Hopefully, getting pulled during the Ducks game has gotten him straightened out for a little while.  I am actually pretty freaked out about what is wrong with him.  Seriously, though – what gives?  How do you have the seasons he has had these past few years and then there’s this year with nary a shutout and one of the worst GAA and SV% in the league?  I mean, he had let in 10 goals in his last 51 shots entering the game.

Iginla is #1 StarAnyway… Dion Phaneuf and Jarome Iginla each scored two goals to lead the Calgary Flames to a 4-1 win over the Phoenix Coyotes last night.

“Feels good to come up with a win,” Kiprusoff said. “We played a smart game, and a very good road game. We lost two in a row and can’t lose three straight.”

“This is type of game we have to play,” Iginla said. “The forwards came back, the defense stood up in front and (Kiprusoff) played well. We need to play this way from here on out.”

The win and his performance earned Flames captain, Iginla, the spot as the #1 star in the NHL last night.
