Fair Grounds Today - Jan 4th

Fair Grounds Recap – Jan 3rd

Fast main track and good turf. Four wire jobs on the main with sprint races especially speed favoring. Turf course played fair with a wire job, a stalker, and two closers making up the four winners.

Riding doubles for Shaun Bridgmohan, Corey Lanerie, and Jamie Theriot. Steve Margolis saddled two winners on the day.

Quiet Temper (Albarado-Romans) easily made it through her entry level route in the 4th. The Delta Princess (G3) winner made all the running and is likely headed back to the stakes ranks in short order. Recent graduate Bella Medaglia was easily 2nd best. Final time for the mile and forty yard contest was 1:40.90.

Skipping Town was probably best in the 7th, an optional claiming turf sprint for fillies and mares. The favored Sam Ishaq runner was up close early before encountering trouble. She dropped back after getting checked, and she came again to miss by less than a length.

Stay Put (Theriot-Margolis) rallied from 10th and last to win the optional claiming 8th for 3yo males. He ran down fav Wordly to win by a length in 1:40.67. Hotep ran well to finish 4th in his first try on regular dirt. Wow Wow Wow (5th) was wide throughout and made a bid before flattening out in the lane. He broke his maiden in wire job fashion and is one to watch for Wayne Lukas.
