Fair Grounds Recap – Jan 18th
Fast main track and good turf course. Pressers best in dirt sprints. Ditto on turf. Patient runners nabbed the two main track routes.
Hat trick for Robby Albarado. Richard Eramia booted home a pair, and two more wins for Shaun Bridgmohan and Steve Asmussen.
Delusional raced wide and never got to run his preferred early/pressing race in the 3rd for Louis Roussel III. Might drop back into the maiden claiming ranks next time, and a better post wouldn’t hurt either.
On the analysis front, I got home value tops Tuscan Mist ($15.80) and Zacaroid ($11.80). I also tabbed the 2nd race exacta, the early double, the 4th race exacta, and the 5th race exacta.

General Quarters returns to a preferred route in the Louisiana Handicap at Fair Grounds on Jan 23rd.
Fair Grounds Preview – Jan 22nd
A 9-race program will be run on Friday at the Fair Grounds. Sunny skies are expected with a high temperature of 68. Pick six carryover of $1,051.
Four turf races are on the Friday docket including the optional claiming 6th for 3yo’s. Coffee Break (A.P. Indy) overcame the outside post to break maiden here last time, and watch for the Neil Howard trainee in the lane. Daddy Forty Nine and Walking the Beach are entered for main track only purposes. Both exit the Stay Put allowance affair on Jan 3rd, and that one is expected to join the stakes ranks for Steve Margolis in the near future.
My daily full cards from Fair Grounds are available through Today’s Racing Digest (free sign up). I also have a Digest free pick page, and my Friday free selection is the 8th race from Fair Grounds.
My MySpace free selection of the day is the 7th race from Fair Grounds.
My Horse Racing Nation free selection of the day is the 5th race from Fair Grounds.
