Fair Grounds Recap – Dec 31st
Fast main track and off the turf. Four races (3 wire jobs) were nabbed by speed types, and midpack runners nabbed the other four races.
John Jacinto booted home a pair.
Red Rally ran to his low odds with a romping wire job tally in the Louisiana Futurity. He went six furlongs in 1:10.28 for ‘Cisco Torres and Merrill Scherer.
In the juvenile filly stakes division, The Rumor’s True rebounded from a below par effort versus graded route foes with a fine stalk and pounce win under Richard Eramia. Steven Duke saddled the winner, and it took her 1:12.88 to complete her six furlong journey.
On the analysis front, I got home tops Hawk Walker ($11.80), Four Bears ($7), and The Rumor’s True ($9.20). I also tabbed the 6th race exacta ($29.60) and a pick 3 ($56.40) in the middle of the card.
Fair Grounds Preview – Jan 1st
A 10-race program will be run on Friday at the Fair Grounds. Partly cloudy skies are expected with a high temperature of 55. Pick 6 carryover of $9,843.
My trainer to watch on Friday is Frank Springer. He has always been on of my fav longshot conditioners at Fair Grounds. He has speedy Adorably Dangerous (8-1) in the 4th and closer True Brew (5-1) in the 8th. James Graham rides the latter, and I’ll make him my rider to watch because he has numerous live mounts on New Years’ Day.
My daily full cards from Fair Grounds are available through Today’s Racing Digest (free sign up), and I will be posting a daily free pick on their site as well. Click here to view my Friday free selection (10th race) from Fair Grounds.
