Does Mark McGwire Deserve Forgiveness?

The St. Louis Cardinals have hired Mark McGwire as the team’s new hitting coach. The move was somewhat surprising considering that McGwire has kept out of the public eye since steroid allegations rocked his world.

Now there is a question that needs to be answered: Does Mark McGwire deserve our forgiveness? As a country, we usually give people a second chance. But that second chance usually comes after an apology. McGwire, on the other hand, hasn’t admitted to anything.

If McGwire wants to get back into the baseball world with his head held high, he should come clean. Tell us what he did. Tell us what he didn’t do. Put that ugly part of baseball history behind us and move forward.

McGwire could be a very good hitting coach but he needs to address some issues instead of sweeping it under the rug. If he doesn’t, McGwire could become more of a distraction than an asset for the Cardinals.

It seems like McGwire DID do something wrong, since he dropped off the face of the earth. The real test will be to see how he handles critics once he starts as hitting coach. The mainstream media does seem to be taking it easy on him. Check out this video by Newsy.com and see what some of the opinion makers on television are saying: http://bit.ly/Al8zE
