Dez Bryant Injury Update – Bruised Quad

Dallas Cowboys fans hold their breath whenever Dez Bryant is returning a punt. Not only because he has a chance to return any punt for a touchdown but also because there’s more of a chance that he could get injured. In Week 1 of the 2011 NFL season, the downside already came into light when Bryant suffered a bruised quad.

The injury ended up really hurting the Cowboys. On the opening drive, the New York Jets couldn’t stop Bryant. He had 45 yards and a touchdown to start the game. However, he was hurt on the next drive and didn’t do much the rest of the game. With Bryant limited, the Jets were able to post a come from behind 27-24 victory.

Going forward, Bryant very well could see the field only as a receiver. After the game, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made strong hints that he doesn’t want to see his second-year receiving returning punts anymore. Bryant, for his part, said that he wants to keep returning punt — but will go along with whatever Jones says.

The Cowboys will look to bounce back in Week 2 in San Francisco against the Niners. Expect Bryant to play, although he may not be 100% for a while following his Week 1 injury.
