Defending Champion Mavs Get First Win

The defending NBA champions lost their first three games of the season. Even worse, the Dallas Mavericks lost the first two games in blowout fashion. However, in Game 4, the Mavs finally got their first win with a 99-86 victory over the Toronto Raptors.

So, who was the hero for the Mavs? It was backup center Ian Mahinmi, he had 19 points, five rebounds, two blocks and a steal. he hit all six of his shots from the floor and seven of his eleven free throw attempts. Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry chipped in 18 points and 17 points, respectively.

The Raptors got 30 points from Andrea Bargnani and 20 points from Leandro Barbosa but it wasn’t enough to keep their record from dropping to 1-2.

Toronto is expected to be one of the worst teams in the league so the Mavs can’t claim to be all the way back … but it was certainly a good start toward getting there.
