Dan Bailey Boots Cowboys to Victory

Who said kickers aren’t real football players. On Monday Night Football, the Dallas Cowboys won thanks to their sure-footed kicker. Dan Bailey was 6-for-6 on field goals to lift the Cowboys to an 18-16 victory over the Washington Redskins.

Said Bailey: “We had good snaps, good holds, great protection. I had the easy job. Whenever you can string a couple of kicks together, it’s a confidence booster.”

Tony Romo ignored his punctured lung and broken rib enough to finish with 255 passing yards, while running back Felix Jones overcame his shoulder injury to rush for 115 yards on 14 carries.

For the Redskins, this was a tough loss. Leading 16-9 with 16 minutes to go in the game, Washington couldn’t stop the Cowboys from kicking them to death. The offense dried up and the defense kept bending.

With the win, the Cowboys now sit atop the NFC East. However, the parity in this division will keep things close all year long.
