Cutter Dykstra, Lenny’s Son, Traded to the Nationals

Lenny Dykstra is about $50 million in debt according to the latest records. However, while his money might be a disaster, apparently his genes are fine. Cutter Dykstra, Lenny’s son, was traded to the Washington Nationals on Sunday in a deal that sent Nyjer Morgan to the Milwaukee Brewers. Along with Dykstra, the Brewers also sent cash to complete the deal.

Last season in Class A ball, Cutter Dykstra hit .312 with 27 steals. Despite those stats, Lenny Dykstra’s son isn’t regarded as much of a prospect. His two main problems are: 1) he doesn’t have any power 2) he is poor in the field. The Brewers tried him a center field, second base and third base … and Cutter Dykstra was bad at each stop. It’ll be interesting to see where the Nationals play him.

With Morgan traded to the Brewers, that opens up a job for Rick Ankiel to play center field for the Nationals. Jerry Hairston Jr. will also spend some time in center, mostly against left-handers.

In Milwaukee, Morgan has a chance to start. Last year he hit only .253 but he did have 34 stolen bases.
