The Los Angeles Dodgers have had a difficult season — on and off the diamond. But don’t blame Clayton Kershaw. The 23-year-old hurler has had a Cy Young caliber season. On Thursday, the Dodgers ace proved his worthiness once again against the Milwaukee Brewers.
In eight inning of work, Kershaw gave up five hits walking none and striking out six. He lowered his ERA to 2.60 and improved his record to 15-5 as the Dodgers won by a final count of 5-1. He did all of that with only 104 pitches.
“He’s a young kid but he definitely doesn’t pitch like that or act that way. He dominates and gives us a great chance to win,” said Rod Barajas, Kershaw’s catcher for this afternoon.
Could Clayton Kershaw win the 2011 NL Cy Young Award? Right now, Roy Halladay has to be the favorite — but the young Dodgers pitcher is definitely in the mix.
