Chris Paul Shuns Celtics

Earlier today, an NBA trade rumor had Chris Paul getting traded to the Boston Celtics. The deal would have sent Rajon Rondo to the New Orleans Hornets. However, according to sources close to Chris Paul, the Celtics can quit their daydreaming because Paul won’t sign an extension with Boston.

Without an extension, the Celtics wouldn’t do the deal. Why would Paul shun the Celtics? Age. Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce are great players — but they’re old. Paul apparently doesn’t want to be a part of Boston’s rebuilding project in forthcoming years.

After the 2011-12 NBA season, Paul will be a free agent. It’s long been whispered that Paul’s plan is to join the New York Knicks so he can join Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire. The Hornets, if they since Paul’s inevitable departure, may decide to trade him. However, it won’t be the Celtics.
