Chris Cooley could never get out of the gates this season for the Washington Redskins. The star tight end seemed injured from Day 1. Now it’s official: Chris Cooley is out for the rest of the 2011 NFL season.
Chris Cooley had knee surgery in the offseason but due to the NFL lockout, he didn’t have medical help when recovering. The Redskins Pro Bowler pointed to the lockout as the main reason why he never properly healed.
“I fell 100 percent that I’m a casualty for the season of the lockout. I think it was a shame that they didn’t let players who had surgery spend time with the doctors and trainers they trust on daily basis, I wish I could’ve,” remarked Chris Cooley.
In five games, Chris Cooley had only eight catches for 65 yards.
Honestly though, the Redskins shouldn’t miss Chris Cooley too much. Fred Davis has performed well this season — totaling 28 catches for 423 yards and two TDs so far this year.
