Celtics Embarrass Lakers in L.A.

The Boston Celtics lost Game 7 last year in Los Angeles as the Lakers won their second straight NBA championship. On Sunday, the Celtics got their revenge. After outscoring the Lakers 59-42 in the second half, the Celtics posted a 109-96 victory despite Kobe Bryant pouring in 41 points in 38 minutes.

The Celtics won due to each of their superstars playing an efficient game. Paul Pierce had 32 points on 11-for-18 shooting. Kevin Garnett hit 9-of-12 shots on his way to 18 points. Ray Allen was 8-for-12 for 21 points, while Rajon Rondo totaled ten points and 16 assists.

“It feels good to come back in this building and get a win,” Pierce admitted.

The Lakers lost because no one helped out Kobe. Ron Artest and Derek Fisher combined to shoot 2-for-16 from the field. Pau Gasol, who will likely join Kobe on the All-Star team, played a soft game on his way to 12 points and seven rebounds in 39 minutes.

“I think guys are upset,” said Kobe, “and they should be.”
