Brooklyn Nets Coming for 2012-13 Season

While the 2011-12 NBA season may be wiped away by the lockout, fans in Brooklyn have reason to look forward to the 2012-13 campaign. Why? That’s the season the New Jersey Nets become the Brooklyn Nets. The Brooklyn Nets will play at the Barclays Center — a sports arena in Brooklyn that cost in excess of $1 billion to construct.

Making the announcement about the Brooklyn Nets was none other than hip hop star Jay-Z. Born in Brooklyn, Jay-Z is a part owner of the Nets and a legend in Brooklyn.

Jay-Z also announced that he’ll be performing up to three concerts to help open the doors to the Barclays Center. Those concerts would begin next September.

Considering that the Nets have struggled to attract fans for years and that NYC is the biggest market in the world, this move from New Jersey to Brooklyn will be a great one for the Nets.
