Bob Sanders is an injury waiting to happen. The San Diego Chargers found that out for themselves this week. Bob Sanders, the former Indianapolis Colts star safety, was put on injured reserve by the Chargers on Wednesday due to a knee injury.

In the offseason, the Colts let go of Bob Sanders due to his injury issues. The Chargers took a chance on him — but the gamble didn’t pay off.

Since 2008, Bob Sanders has played in a total of 11 games. When he plays, he’s a hard-hitting safety who can change the game in an instant. But that “when” is becoming less and less often; Bob Sanders hasn’t played in more than 2 games in any of the previous three seasons.

The Chargers sit at 2-1 and are tied with the Oakland Raiders for the top spot in the AFC West. This week, San Diego hosts the Miami Dolphins.
