Bob Bradley Fired from USA Soccer

Soccer fans in the United States had a lot of reasons to cheer for their national team over the last few years. Despite those highs, USA soccer coach Bob Bradley lost his job on Thursday. With expectations rising, the decision makers decided to go a different direction.

“During his time as the head coach of our men’s national team he led the team to a number of accomplishments, but we felt now was the right time for us to make a change,” said Sunil Gulati, the president of USA Soccer. “It is always hard to make these decisions, especially when it involves someone we respect as much as Bob.”

The turning point was likely the Gold Cup. With the tournament being held in the United States, the Americans really wanted a solid showing. Instead, the USA soccer squad underwhelmed and Mexico ended up winning it all.

Can the United States soccer program finally take the next step at the 2014 World Cup that will be held in Brazil. If they do, it will be without Bob Bradley.
