A mix of exciting youngsters and grizzled veterans had breakout games in Week 8 of the 2011 fantasy football season. We saw a number of upsets and a few great games. Here’s a look at the best fantasy football performances of Week 8.
QB Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers
The Panthers rookie continues to dazzle. He finished with three touchdown passes, 290 yards passing and even added 53 rushing yards. Fantasy stud, this kid is.
RB Steven Jackson, St. Louis Rams
How did the Rams beat the New Orleans Saints? Two words: Steven Jackson. The veteran running back had one of the best games of his career, finishing with 159 yards rushing, 32 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

WR Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions
The Lions got back on the winning track — with Calvin Johnson doing a lot of the heavy lifting. The uber talented WR finished with six catches, 125 yards and a TD reception.
TE Fred Davis, Washington Redskins
The Redskins were horrible. They got shutout by the Bills, losing by a final score of 23-0. However, that didn’t stop Fred Davis from shining. The young tight end had eight catches for 94 yards on just nine targets.
