2012 NHL Mock Draft

The 2012 NHL Draft is still a ways away. It will take place at Consol Energy Center in the city of Pittsburgh starting on July 22nd. However, it’s never too early to take a look at the best prospect available for the draft.

While there are a number of international players at the top of the list, there is also quite a bit of domestic talent. That said, the international players are the cream of the crop this year.

Here’s our 2012 NHL Mock Draft:

1. Mikhail Grigorenko
A center out of Russia, Mikhail Grigorenko is big and very talented. If he gets his head on straight, he could be a fantastic player.

2. Nail Yakupov
Another Russian, Nail Yakupov is small but he’s compact and has a ton of skills. One thing that could keep him out of the top spot is a recent knee injury.

3. Filip Forsberg
Filip Forsberg has good size and even better skills. The native of Sweden could surprise many and jump to the top of this list.

4. Alex Galchenyuk
Like the first two players on this list, Alex Galchenyuk is from Russia. His father was a pro player in Russia and currently an assistant coach. He too could see his stock drop due to a knee injury.

5. Pontus Aberg
Pontus Aberg is a very determined player who always plays hard and shows a lot of heart. From Sweden, he’s a sure-fire top ten pick.
