We have named our NL MVP, NL Cy Young Award winner and NL Rookie of the Year. Now let’s move on to the American League and start with the Most Valuable Player award. Here are our top five AL MVP favorites and our AL MVP winner.
5. Adrian Gonzalez, Boston Red Sox
In his first year in Boson, Adrian Gonzalez lived up to expectations — and then some.
4. Jacoby Ellsbury, Boston Red Sox
Going on stats and production, Jacoby Ellsbury should be higher. But after the Red Sox choked so violently, I can’t put any player on the team in the top three.
3. Curtis Granderson, New York Yankees
Curtis Granderson had a great season. He led the American League in RBIs and runs while finishing second in home runs.

2. Justin Verlander, Detroit Tigers
He could very well end up winning the AL MVP but I have Justin Verlander second. He won 24 games and also led the AL in ERA, WHIP and strikeouts. A simply dominant season.
1. Jose Bautista, Toronto Blue Jays
Though he wasn’t as dominant near the end of the season, Jose Bautista was by far the best hitter this season in the American League. He led the league in homers, on-base percentage and slugging percentage. Jose Bautista is our 2011 AL MVP.

Ellsbury should be number 1. Even though his team choked, he performed better in September than in the rest of the season. Clearly he performed beautifully under pressure. Look up his statistics.
Ellsbury for 2011 AL MVP!
Uhmm, Bautista did not lead the league in On Base Percentage, Miguel Cabrera did. (.448 to .447)
