We’ve come to our final award. After name the NL MVP, NL Cy Young, NL Rookie of the Year, AL MVP and AL Cy Young, we are left with just the AL Rookie of the Year award. Who takes home the top prize for rookies in the American League.
Here are our top five rookies in the 2011 American League Rookie of the Year race:
5. Dustin Ackley, Seattle Mariners
Dustin Ackley has a very high ceiling and should turn into one of the best second basemen in the game.
4. Eric Hosmer, Kansas City Royals
The Royals have a bright future, with Eric Hosmer being perhaps the best prospect of them all.
3. Jeremy Hellickson, Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays made it to the playoffs in large part due to Jeremy Hellickson’s great rookie year.
2. Ivan Nova, New York Yankees
The Yankees should thank the lucky stars above that Ivan Nova blossomed. Without him, the pitching rotation would be extremely weak.
1. Mark Trumbo, Los Angeles Angels
Yeah, his batting average is ugly. But Mark Trumbo provided the power for the Angels to make a legit run at the playoffs despite having a team short on talent.
