2011-12 NBA Power Rankings – Training Camp Edition

NBA training camps should have started by now. Unfortunately, the lockout is keeping players at home. As the billionaires haggle with the millionaires, let’s take a look at the latest NBA power rankings for the 2011-12 NBA season … assuming there will be a season, of course.

1. Dallas Mavericks
The defending champs will be a beast once again, as long as they are able to re-sign Tyson Chandler.

2. Miami Heat
A year of chemistry building will have done wonders for the Heat heading into the 2011-12 NBA season.

3. Chicago Bulls
The Bulls played well above expectations last season. Derrick Rose and crew could take another step forward.

4. Los Angeles Lakers
It’d be a mistake to count out Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol. That said, Kobe isn’t getting any younger.

5. Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder could very well rise in these rankings before the start of the season. They love playing together and Kevin Durant is becoming a super superstar.

6. Boston Celtics
If age doesn’t slow down the Celtics, they should have one last run in them.

7. Orlando Magic
Having Dwight Howard on your team gives you a shot.

8. San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs need to reload but much like the Celtics, they could make a run at the rings one last time.

9. New York Knicks
Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony should be fierce once they figure out how to play with each other.

10. Memphis Grizzlies
The Grizzlies are definitely an up-and-coming contender. If they build off their success from last season, watch out!
