CSI:NY is the third installment of the CSI franchise to make it into CBS prime time television. The story starts with Gary Sinise as Detective Mac Taylor, who lost his wife in 9/11 in the collapse of the World Trade Center towers.

Detective Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise) heads the New York City Crime Lab, and like his CSI counterparts in Las Vegas and Miami, he and the talented members of his forensic division grapple with the “how” and the “why” of crime scene investigation in the Big Apple. Taylor and his partner, Detective Stella Bonasera (Melina Kanakaredes), a workaholic and a jill-of-all-trades, share a passion for the job. For his team: Flack (Eddie Cahill), Lindsay (Anna Belknap), Danny (Carmine Giovinazzo) and Sheldon (Hill Harper) – it’s a big Big Apple filled from stem to core with the routine, the extraordinary, and the bizarre as they probe the fascinating world of CSI:NY.
