PlayStation 2 Now At Maltese Burger Kings

Well, Nintendo grabbed McDonald’s so I suppose it was only a matter of time before Burger King was snatched up. Looks like Sony is going to start putting PlayStation 2’s in Burger Kings. Well, in Malta, anyway.

I’m surprised Microsoft didn’t beat them to it. Too busy building Xbox 360’s, I figure. I guess Microsoft will have to settle for KFC or maybe Taco Bell … or Subway. Maybe all three. Actually, I’m shocked that none of them have thought to start their own Video Game Fast Food Restaurant.

Microsoft’s Menu:

  • The MicroMac
  • The MicroBurger
  • The MicroNuggets
  • MicroSize the Fries

But I digress.

Here’s the news bit:

PlayStation 2, the very best in home entertainment is now available at all Burger King restaurants. All Burger King customers can enjoy a nice meal whilst testing their skills on the NEW PlayStation 2 consoles just introduced in each restaurant.

The initiative has been long planned in line with the new decor and alternative services that the brand would like to offer to its clientele. “We are excited to have concluded on a strong partnership deal with Sony PlayStation, through its local agent, Forestals Ltd, and S.V.S. Leisure Ltd to install and run the PlayStation 2 consoles for Burger King in Malta,” commented Ms Stefania Conte, General Manager, Food Chain (Holdings) Limited, operators of Burger King franchise in Malta.

In the near future, Burger King customers will be able to try their PlayStation 2 skills for free when purchasing a particular meal or deal. “Burger King is always on the look out for innovative ways of attracting customers to our outlets. We want to offer more than just great food and friendly service,” added Mr Marco Debono, Marketing Executive for Burger King. The PlayStation 2 games will be changed on a regular basis, whilst the consoles will always offer the latest games possible on the market

Will the customers’ oily hands stain the PS2 controllers?

I’ve been wondering… When the companies say they’ve formed a “strong partnership” with someone, does that mean they get more money than they thought, or is it just something they say…? ^^ Playing PS2 and eating hamburger… that’s what we call.. eh.. don’t remember it.

    - A waste of time.

I thought Burger King’s decor was supposed to be retro 60’s (or it is in Aus anyway – maybe we are behind the times here!).

So how does PS fit in with that. Surely pinball machines are a more likely tie in?

Patrick – Maybe they’ll provide some wet nappies to clean your hands with ;)

Tor – I think the ’strong’ partnership is meant to imply a sense of teamwork and community … which probably means they’ve both agreed to earn big bucks together.

    Matt – Agreed

Cal – Perhaps in Malta the PS2 will fit right in!

Heh, Microsoft /would/ probably get Taco Bell and KFC together since they’re both owned by Southern Restaurants (as is A&W and Long John Silver’s). Dunno about Subway though.

Yeah I forget who owns Subway. One of those chains, too, me thinks.

It won’t be long before video games take over the world.

31 Flavors will change its name to 360 Flavors and include some console-related names ;)
