Win Dwight Schrute’s Big Fat Bobblehead

Rainn Wilson
NBC is making a semi-big deal out of the fact that the network has somehow managed to move over 150,000 bobblehead dolls featuring the likeness of The Office‘s resident sourpuss, know-it-all, bigmouth, smart aleck, busybody, and all-around malcontent, Dwight Schrute.

If you haven’t yet guessed, that particular item is the biggest-selling piece of merchandise in the history of NBC Universal’s online store. It’s even more in demand than the talking Michael Scott version (and I can see why—does anyone but the rarest person really want those freaky things saying stuff, too?).

Dwight is played by talented and popular actor Rainn Wilson, of course, and in honor of his character’s recent success in toyland, NBC declared on Friday that it will give everyone the opportunity to win one of his big, fat, bobbling heads for free.

Two are up for grabs—both autographed by the actor himself—as well as an accompanying DVD box set of The Office‘s third season. Although the first big fat head requires a few convoluted steps to win (you have to be the highest bidder in one of the network’s second live online auctions running from January 21 until January 30 at nbc.com/auctions, which requires registration, patience, money, etcetera), the second is much easier to come by. Simply dash over to the website nbcstore.com/dwight and register in the no-purchase-required sweepstakes. You have from tomorrow, January 21, until February 21 to do so.

While it would be great to win one of Schrute’s big fat heads, even better is the fact that all net proceeds from the bobblehead auction—100 percent of them—will be donated to a charity selected by Wilson. So, if you have the dough and the time, the first method of getting Schrute’s big fat head isn’t that bad after all.

Good luck to all who go for it.
