I think my favorite tie-ins will always be the Virgin New Adventures of Doctor Who. Really added depth to the show for me, especially to the seventh Doctor.

I think my favorite TV tie in is _Chosen_, witch retells the big points from Season 7 of Buffy.

I don’t read many TV tie in books, but my favourite would have to be one of the Star Trek tie-in novels. Probably “The Kobayashi Maru” by Julia Ecklar, for one of the best ‘explanations’ for how Kirk beat the test (much better than what they came up with for the movie).

I keep meaning to pick up the Torchwood novels every time I see them on the shelf in a bookstore (they’re so slick looking!) but just haven’t gotten around to them yet!

I’ve read a few of the Torchwood tie-in books, and some of them are actually quite good. “Almost Perfect” is probably my favorite, because girl!Ianto, and Jack and Gwen’s subsequent reaction to him/her will never get old, haha. The Gwen/Rhys in it was cute as well. I love books where you can choose whether or not to adopt it as canon, because there’s not many things like that in TV shows that you can pick and choose with. :]

As an American viewer, I often miss out on a lot of the little extras and, in fact, didn’t even know about (new) Doctor Who or Torchwood until a friend brought them to light for me. And now where am I? Just finishing an academic paper on Torchwood fan fiction. It’s an amazing world, and one in which I’d very much like to win free books.
