Will Jack Bauer Die?

24: SEASON 7: Jack (Kiefer Sutherland, C) is examined by the hazmat team in the "11:00 PM - 12:00 AM" episode of 24 that aired Monday, March 30 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. ©2009 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: Kelsey McNeal/FOX
That’s the big question everyone is asking: Will Jack Bauer Die? If you watch the show, then most likely your assumption is yes. Most viewers think that he will die because, well, it’s Jack Bauer.

The bigger question is when…season 7, season 8? Here’s an idea from Buddy TV if Jack were to go in season 7.

I’d always assumed his death would come in the final hour of 24’s final season. A reasonable assumption because, well, 24 isn’t 24 without Jack Bauer. It cannot exist without Kiefer Sutherland – Force of Nature. But, there are ways around this, ways that I have only recently considered. If the writers have agreed with the previous sentiment, that Jack Bauer will inevitably be subject to an on-screen death, the only question is when exactly to drop the guillotine. The last episode of the final season? Too predictable. Not the 24 way. Why not in the final episode of a season that we all know is not the series’ final one? This is why, even though 24 will begin shooting its eighth season in May, I think there’s a very real possibility that Jack will perish by the end of this season, the show’s seventh.

Why can’t season eight go back in time? Why can’t season eight be a prequel?

I recon we will ’see’ Jack die… and Agent Walker teaming up with Tony Almera to continue the Bauer style.

However, as an additional twist, you may see messages that appear from beyond the grave (text / computer / notes), helping them out in their hour-by-hour to save the world.

What may happen is our Jack may not die but is left badly crippled, with only his mind left in one piece…. hence enter Audrey Rains… now recovered and looking after Jack in secret, but still able to interact with all her past contacts…

Otherwise just wait & see… am sure it won’t be anything we can guess.

I have been a huge fan since the first episode but feel that it is time to look at an “out” strategy for the character. The 24 premise should be able to survive if Jack doesn’t

@TheMosc – I thought Kiefer was trying to reduce his role in the show, move to a executive producer more then on screen persona

looking at the last episode it seems his death is imminent. Unless there is a rather naive twist in the plot where in jonas hodges and some other partner of his have already got an antidote for the bio weapon they have prepared and their real end game was to bargain some kind of a pharma deal with the president once they managed to release the bio weapon.
What say, that would be pretty crazy, jack going after the medicine towards the end of the final episode killing the bad guy and getting the anti dote.
This twist is further strengthened by the look tony gave to agent moss when tony asked about the health of jack as he was hand cuffed. Also since Tony is still involved with the bad guys in stealing away one of the cylinders there could very well be another big villian in play.

Ive been a fan of 24 also from the begining. But with all the so called green nonsence on comercial insets. Also Garofalo’s racism about the tea party’s, every time I see her on season 7 all I see is her activest rant. Those that attended those parties are like Jack standing for the protection of U.S.A. Kill Jack off end the show. My love for the show is dieing too.

Jack will be very close to death but his daughter will come back and save him just in time for signing “day 8″ contract.
There is no 24 without Jack !

On youtube there is an interview with Keifer and he said season 8 is within a day or 2 of season 7 as aposed to the usual 1 or 2 years. I think Jack will survive this season and die at the end of season 8. Remeber he says in this season he has 1, maybe 2 days to live!!! if he dies in this one I probably will watch season 8 just to see what they do without him, but Ive got to be honest it wont be the same.

I think Jack is going to die in the last episode, Season 7. Renee is Jack’s replacement. She is going down the same path and will continue on in season 8. I’m mad they killed BIll. So what if he’s in another show…I dount this season will end on a good note but it would be nice, this season has been such a downer. It would be nice to end on a note of hope for the future…but that wouldn’t be the 24 way.

I’m glad to find after my post in April that we’re no nearer finding the answer, but if you look at the overall plot I think it gives you the answer.

The writers are hiding lots of skeletons in the cupboard, too many to cover off & expose in season 7. 24’s success & Achilles heel is that it thrives on a single individual’s ability, where we are not just talking about JB’s own direct actions but also in his ability to influence & motivate others to save the day.

So, you must ask yourself this. Is there any other character in play who has the necessary foresight to interpret what is about to happen, and, more importantly the experience to rapidly respond in the most appropriate manner. (I think you can work out for yourselves that there is only one plausible conclusion)

    So, what’s gonna happen…?

Know will proved wrong in some ways but I think its obvious with all these threats CTU will be reinstated in one form or another. With the potential for so much power it can only be trusted to someone with unwavering loyalty. Will Jack sit back & become a pen pusher… again my original comment in April that he’d be physically crippled by the virus would mean he’d have to take a desk job… hence a natural transition allowing him, through a Presidential order to take over CTU & form his own tactical team… headed up by our Sex-on-Legs Rene Walker. Think there’s no one else around that has the right qualities, especially as she’s become self qualified using JB’s fast track initiation course in how things shouldn’t be done… but have to be done.

On a closing note, you can tell she wants him… but our man has a few notches on the bedpost that will nodoubt come out of the woodwork. There’s been a huge amount of sexual tension, but no action which I feel is a huge complement to the writers in leaving it out. Instead, you’re left dangling not ultimately knowing … fabbo… and am sure there will be some more key deaths before season 7 closes, but please 24 writers… pick on anyone else but Chloe O’Brien & her family… famous last words egh…

    Happy dayz
