Whoa! ‘Pushing Daisies’ Kicked to the Curb Tonight?!

Pushing DaisiesAccording to a dude named Ausiello over at Entertainment Weekly, a fresh episode of Pushing Daisies was supposed to air tonight, January 7, but it got canned at the last moment.

In response to a reader question seeking insider information about the possibility of (unbelievably and regrettably) canceled dramedy gems Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money completing their sophomore runs over the summer, the Super Scooper writes:

Actually, at this point, we’ll be lucky if they air at all. Episode 11 of Daisies was originally scheduled to air tonight, but, per [series creator and executive producer] Bryan Fuller, the network dropped it from the schedule at the last minute. “They are not scheduled to air right now,” he sighs, “and that’s all we know.”

So, what, you ask, will air in Daisies’ place instead? How about encores of the same two Scrubs episodes — “My Jerks” and “My Last Words” — that marked the show’s debut on ABC this week. And, yes, I mean the very same pair that aired just last night.

Goodness! If I had realized they would repeat so soon, I would have caught The Mentalist in real time on CBS Tuesday night and waited for Scrubs today. As Ausiello concludes his remark above, “Let’s have a round of applause for network TV!” Indeed — and a few cream pies right in the face, too.

I wish another network would pick up Daisies. But, with star Kristin Chenoweth already booked for another high-profile gig and other cast members probably soon to follow, how satisfying would the show be after a move?

Now, if someone could step in and save Daisies before everybody bails, that’s a whole ‘nother story. Right now, I just pray ABC has the decency to air all of the remaining new episodes on television — the sooner, the better.

With all the PD fans, why doesn’t Warner Bros. get the show on their own CW? They kinda need more viewers and better shows.

Maybe by ‘pre-empting’ Pushing Daisies this way, ABC is covertly testing to see what kind of uproar will result from denying PD’s fans their fix on these last three episodes.

Were fans to create a huge uproar, deluging ABC with lucid complaints about the series’ cancellation, might there be any possible chance that the network execs might reconsider their action?

I suggested elsewhere, too, that maybe ABC should sell the series to another network who would have the sense to extend the series with the same writers, cast, etc.

    Well, one can hope.

    Consider this MY official complaint.

    Where’s the rest of yours?

LAME! I mean, really? The last three epis have been ready for months, now. So they’re just going to replace it with something people have already seen? I can’t deal with this! I can always watch episode of season one on dvd or go to the abc site and watch some season two, but…but! That’s so freakin’ lame. Momma needs her some daisies!
