Whedon to Reshoot Dollhouse Pilot

“I showed some scenes to David Lynch and he’s all, “whuh?” Bad sign.”

That’s Joss Whedon in his post over at Whedonesque explaining why he felt the need to reshoot the “Dollhouse” pilot. Though he tries to downplay the network’s involvement in the decision, it’s clear that he didn’t wake up yesterday and decide to do it over again all on his own.

He talks about needing a change in tone from the “dark noir” place that he loves to something. . . well. . .something brighter and bouncier maybe?  It’s hard to say.

In general, Whedon makes it sound like this is business as usual only on a much shorter schedule due to the writer’s strike, and I believe that is probably true.  Many shows are recast and retooled and still go on to be successful series.  Look at “Moonlight.”

Okay, maybe that’s a bad example.

The bottom line is that “Dollhouse” won’t be premiering at Comic Con as originally planned, but it does mean Joss and Eliza will have a whole lot more to talk about when it’s time for their panel on Saturday afternoon.
