I just posted that Gore Verbinski has been hired to direct Universal’s remake of "Clue" (I’m not that into it), but it’s not the only board-game movie in the works.
Universal and Hasbro are making a bunch of movies based on board games, including "Candy Land," directed by Kevin Lima and written by Etan Cohen; "Ouija Board," produced by Michael Bay‘s Platinum Dunes; and "Monopoly," produced by Ridley Scott.
Someone tell me what is going on here! Has Hollywood simply run out of story ideas? They’ve re-made practically every movie that’s ever been made, so are they now turning to board games to fill their schedules?
Call me crazy, but it all seems very weird.
