Wentworth Miller recently chatted with Earl Dittman from Driven Magazine about fan experiences and letters he has received since starting Prison Break. (Thanks Connie for the tip!)
When fans approach him, Wentworth says it’s always been a positive experience. “The fans are so respectful of the show, and it’s a real pleasure talking to them. What they were basically telling me, throughout the time the show was running, is that when they don’t miss an episode they’re making time for you, your story, your work and my life every week. I always considered that the highest compliment.”
He reveals that he has had some strange encounters though! “Once, I was at the mall, and a woman came up to me, very politely and very respectfully, and she wanted to take my picture, and she had her camera cell phone as they all do. She wanted to take the picture herself and so she kind of sidled up to me, and I put my arm around her and she held up her phone, but couldn’t take the picture because it was shaking like a maraca. She was that nervous, and I could feel her vibrating next to me and it was starting to make me nervous. Then, she had to ask a complete stranger to take the picture for her, and as soon the picture was taken – as soon as she had my image in camera – she stopped looking at me. She continued interacting with me, but she only looked at the image on her camera. She said good-bye to the image on her camera.”
But he realizes that the fans and the paparazzi area all part of the business. “We wanted people to watch the show. And, you want to have a large fan base, and that’s also what I saw when it comes to doing publicity, PR and getting the word out. We were talking about this on set one time, me and Dominic (Purcell), and what we determined is that they don’t pay us to act. They pay us to act as diplomats and ambassadors and politicians and publicists and all those other things that go along with being an actor on a successful TV show.”
Wentworth has also received several letters. “I’ve gotten a few romantic letters, absolutely, which is flattering. But I also know that they have feelings, if you want to call them that, for the character that I played on TV.”
And he’s also received letters from inmates. “Apparently, a Prison Break headshot would get you a pack of smokes. [Laughs] But, the truth is that in a number of state pens they were not allowed to watch the show, because they might get encouraged to imitate it, I guess.”

Its a surprise heba,I can’t say yet ,(I’m leaving that part up to Nikki, she has that info.she’ll release it when she can,)But its not someone from prison break. the person is very, very famous!… I will send you some more pictures this week. I hope other artist don’t try to copy me in what I’m doing LOL ! but definitely I am going to paint Wentworth Miller again and send it to him,(as soon as his agents/ advisers allow him to contact me. ) heba, I can’t tell you the 3rd person yet but “when it’s released “, I’ll send you that extra photo also.

heba, the world has only seen two paintings, but there is a third portrait. it will be revealed in the near future.everyone will get their portrait, Wentworth will get his.it’s at FOX. President Obama will get his, (preparations being made)and the third person will get theirs .who is the third person? only one girl in America has that answer!
I sent you pictures heba, I don’t know if you received them.the Michael Scofield and the President Obama. also I am preparing to send another, but I’ll send u the photo’s after I mail the paintings, etc. etc.(after it is revealed)

sure no problem! heba, I wonder if websites here are made up different? anyway I will have to ask someone to e-mail pictures for me,I can’t use computer too well yet.I only started trying to contact that…..wentworth! I think someone stole that painting! when I open up a website I’ll show it to all the world so they will know . but I’ll ask someone to help me send it to you!

okay heba, but dont type in newsday or other things. just type in the two names in the bracket (hayden geeawan) and you’ll see the paintings of President Obama and Michael Scofield,in the newsday section. the pictures didn’t come out clear enough ,like the originals , the paintings were more clear and clean-cut. next two months I want to do a website.

Thanks lee..I wish 4 u the same & let’s hope to see Went in many other good roles in movies & another great show.
we do miss Went so much ,we want to see him all of the year not just in 1 episode in SUV.

hayden, I’ve just read ur last comment now.I was in another city last week which there’s no internet there!! Yes don’t get surprised there’s still places in 2009 don’t have internet.
Anyway sorry 4 writing back late…I just want to say again that I’m so so happy that Went has an admirer like u.Sure he deserves great fans & u hayden is more than great.U do everything u can to show ur expression to ur beloved actor like WM or a beloved presedent like Mr Obama.U dont care about money .u don’t care about effort & u have patience.
I’m sure hayden u’ll be famous one day,though IMO beeing famous doesn’t necessary mean real talent.There r many famous actors in Hollywood r very famous but they r not better than other ones who r not famous at all.
For example Went started his fame in 34 & he is so talented & way way better than some other actors started their fame in 20s and some of them even got many rewards but they r not better at all than him.
So my point hayden is U DON’T HAVE TO BE FAMOUS TO BE GOOD.
Finally I wish 4 u best of luck because u deserve it & I hope to read & hear about u in magazines or in anything through the media one day & from now consider me 1 of ur fans

Went has a lot of fans here in nigeria and i’m proud to say that i am one of them. I never used to watch PB Until i saw a picture of went. I cant really say what i felt that day. All i can say is i never stopped looking at that picture.
heba, this is the first time I really admire an actor this much. last year before I had internet ,I asked a friend of mine to do a research on “Wentworth” I found out his movies . I searched video clubs all over, taking taxi’s here and there. I had to pay triple price for some movie’s . but I didn’t care! I saw ghost whisperer, moriah’s 2 video’s, human stain, stealth, etc.I read his ” bio “and he reminded me of the things I go through, like “following your dream’s” and not giving up. he went through so much.I remember the other portrait I did -for President Obama ,as a present(when he came to Trinidad) but my government said NO!they wont give him the painting. (maybe cause I’m not a famous artist.)but my story made two newspapers and two top tv news stations (along with the painting of Wentworth) anyway I painted Michael Scofield instead of my own gov’t. and I am NOT NOT NOT sorry at all! I have dvd’s, a lot of movie’s that I lend. But I have a personal cabinet that I keep all my pb movies in, I don’t lend out those. Wentworth is an Inspiring person, so humble.
Of course hayden I believe u & I really hope from all my heart that Went receives ur Portrait & reads ur lovely comments about him & all the cast.
U don’t have to thank me..u made me so happy to feel how much went has faithful fans like u.I love him so much & automatically I love anyone loves him which means I love u so much & all the rest of Went’s fans.
Believe me I’m honest when I say that Went is lucky to have an admirer like u
