Ugly Betty alum and Southland star Kevin Alejandro, who appeared briefly on Weeds at the end of last season, will have a recurring spot on Season 5, he tells E!.
The Mexican actor has been busy since Santos, Hilda’s love and Justin’s dad, was tragically killed off on Ugly Betty. On NBC’s LA cop drama Southland he plays a detective in the gang unit. “We specialize in gangs, but the show is not just about life on the street,” he explained to Kristin Dos Santos. “It’s about what kind of person it takes to be in the LAPD and then how they are when they go home and become a family man or a boyfriend or a best friend.”
On Weeds, Alejandro will spar with Elizabeth Perkins in a kidnapping side plot that’s sure to be full of the piss and vinegar we expect from the show’s writers. He’ll appear in about five episodes, he said, but he didn’t dish any details. Still, the actor’s smoldering looks and acting chops (which date back to his days on the Young & the Restless) have earned him comparisons to Johnny Depp in his 21 Jump Street days.
