Hey Amy – Thanks for the comment! Yeah, it just seemed so weird that Cruise and the filmmakers wouldn’t even make any effort to give him a German accent. I kept thinking, well maybe there’s something I don’t know here. Maybe he’s supposed to be playing an American (yeah, right, Jane).

Anyway, he’s got a ton of movies coming up, some as producer, some as actor, so we’ll see what he does next. Here’s his IMDB page:

I thought Singer and McQuarrie produced and excellent film. Historically accurate too (a first for Hollywood?). Despite my initial reservations, TC pulled off the role and made me believe and care about CvS’s fate. The accents did not bother me in the least. I thibk Valkyrie has been slandered by a lot of Cruise/Scientology hating nutbars. I couldn’t care what the guy worships as long as he does his job – in Valkyrie he did.

Thanks for the heads up, Jane! I felt the same way about Tom Cruise in this role. I love German history, and was surprised by the choice.

On the other hand, I loved him in Tropic Thunder. He was my favorite part of the movie.
