According to Hollywood Reporter, Summit Entertainment is putting the next
two Twilight sequels in the production pipeline. The Twilight books, New Moon and Eclipse, will have screenplays penned by Melissa Rosenberg. The screenplay for the third book, Breaking Dawn does not yet have a writer.
In New Moon, the main character Bella befriends and seeks solace with a werewolf after Edward leaves town to protect her from other vampires. In Eclipse, Bella faces a tough decision regarding the love of her life, and must choose. In Breaking Dawn, Edward and Bella face the uncommon challenges of marriage.
Summit has acquired rights to all three books. It’s no wonder with pre-ticket sales of Twilight more than exceeding expectations, and the buzz. Melissa Rosenberg is an Emmy nominated writer, and has served as executive producer for some amazing TV shows such as Dexter, The O.C. and The Magnificent Seven.
She also co-wrote the screenplay for the film, Step Up, a film about a troubled youth and a ballet dancer who develop a friendship and attraction for each other while at the Maryland School of Arts.
