Trailer for Futuristic Neo-Giallo ‘Yellow Future’

I was overcome by ‘yellow fever‘ as a child and thankfully haven’t recovered since. A healthy dose of horror movies at a young age set me on a path of exploration between the pages of gore magazines and other unmentionables. Immersed in the culture of the Italian half of my family would naturally lead me to make cultural associations with the things I loved most; among them art and movies, and in particular, giallo film. Once the black gloves clasped tightly around me I was prisoner to the dreamy cinescape of ultraviolent, erotic nightmares.

Given my addiction, I find it hard to pass up anything closely resembling the genre and Cory Callahan’s neo-giallo trailer for the short film, Yellow Future, had me squirming for more. No official synopsis has been released just yet but the good folks over at Quiet Earth have had their eye on this bugger and posted the new trailer for it earlier today. The only description as far as I can see is ‘A giallo in the future.’ Sold! Between this film and Amer my head my explode.

From the look of the trailer, it has the right aesthetic. The story takes place in the year 2112. A madman is killing actresses in Los Angeles, who believes he is the real artist and murder is the highest art form. A determined detective is out to stop him. Callahan has confirmed that the film is 10 minutes long and will be playing the festival circuit shortly. I look forward to seeing more from this talented filmmaker soon.
