New on DVD and Blu-ray this week is Season One of TNT’s syndicated animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The popular Cartoon Network original from Lucasfilm Animation joined the TNT lineup in February of this year, initially airing Wednesdays at 10pm ET. Although it isn’t in active rotation on the schedule right now, fans can still catch episodes over on the Cartoon Network and pick up a copy of the November 3 release.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the first animated series produced by Lucasfilm Animation, follows the adventures of familiar characters from the Star Wars world, including Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, and Ahsoka Tano.
The first season has 22 episodes total, and the four-disc DVD and two-disc Blu-ray boxed sets contain an equal number of episodic featurettes providing behind-the-scenes details about the production of every single one of those episodes.

There are also seven Director’s Cuts episodes (Rising Malevolence, Shadow of Malevolence, Lair of Grievous, Rookies, Storm Over Ryloth, Innocents of Ryloth, and Liberty on Ryloth), a Season Two sneak peek, and a 64-page production booklet with concept art, notes, and sketches. In other words, the retail version of Star Wars: The Clone Wars‘ first season offers ample top-notch extras.
