TNT on DVD: 'Southland' Season One

Out on DVD today, January 26, is the first season of TNT’s recent NBC import Southland. So, if you haven’t been able to watch the show’s currently in-progress rookie run on TNT, never fear.

Southland

The two-disc set is available in DVD format only (meaning there’s no Blu-ray version), and it includes all seven episodes from the crime drama’s NBC outing last spring.

Although the product is extremely short on the kinds of extras consumers have come to expect with TV on DVD items, it does include a making-of featurette called “Southland: Redefining the Cop Drama,” as well as Chinese, English, French, and Spanish subtitles for viewers who need them.

Some might consider the release’s “uncensored” label an extra, too, since it seems to promise you’ll get to watch extra-raw and ultra-real content that didn’t make it past the censors who monitor what’s broadcast on the small screen.

PURCHASE INFORMATION

DVD SET: 2 discs, 7 episodes, $29.98 list price

Whether the DVD set interests you or not, remember to catch Southland’s brand-new sophomore season on TNT, starting with the premiere “Phase Three” on Tuesday, March 2, at 10pm. I’ve checked the episode out already, and I promise fans of the gritty procedural won’t be disappointed.

Southland currently airs Tuesdays on TNT at 10pm ET.
