The X Factor 2008 Final is finally here, with the millions of hopefuls who auditioned during the summer now whittled down to just three acts. Will it be JLS, Alexandra Burke, or Eoghan Quigg who takes the title of winner, and that record deal alongside it?
Between November 15 and December 12, 2008, Brit Music Scene held a poll to determine who the most popular contestant was. In the four week period, 240 people voted (many more than told me Keane sucked) with some surprising results.
Diana Vickers won the poll with 60 votes, a quarter of all people voting for her as their favorite contestant. She was winning right from the start and stayed there until this week, even after being voted off the show last Saturday. Which upset wee Eoghan a little.
Fittingly, the three finalists came next, and the poll results confirm what the judges have been saying all week – it’s too close to call a winner. Alexandra Burke won by one vote over Eoghan, with JLS a mere two votes behind him. Who’ll win really depends on which act the Diana Vickers fans switch to.

As far as Brit Music Scene readers are concerned, most of the decisions over the weeks were correct, with the right acts going at the right time. Laura White and Ruth Lorenzo maybe went too early, but the big shock was Diana Vickers missing out on the final.
I personally can’t stand the woman, with her hiccoughing singing style and claw hand, but BMS readers obviously took her to their hearts. I was convinced Vickers would win, but now I don’t know who to choose from the finalists. If I were a betting man, I’d put a few quid on Alexandra Burke, who is also who I’d like to see win.

Only one whose music I would buy and that is JLS. Alexandra (a dime a dozen) Eoghan worse than Leon whose cd´s are sitting on the shelves in Scotland. JLS there is a place waiting for them in the market. They are contemporary and have personalities and wonderful harmony. All we have are recycled boy bands in their thirties. We need a young fresh boy band.
