The Vanishing Frog - Animal Planet Documentary

panamanian_golden_frog.jpgOver the past 18 years experts from all around the world have been meeting to assess the number of alarming reports that amphibiansare rapidly disappearing from ponds, rivers, mountains and rain forests around the world. To help educate others and also assess this issue, Jeff Corwin, Animal Planet and Clorox have teamed up to produce a documentary called The Vanishing Frog.

The Vanishing Frog will be a multimedia project that will uncover clues on the frog’s deadly plight while also unifying viewers with a common cause of environmental protection for wildlife resources.

As a Biologist I think that this is a great idea and a wonderful issue to highlight. I do always find it puzzling when companies such as Clorox, and others, try to interject some sort of social responsibility into their business objectives. When the episode premier I count how many Clorox commercials I see and let you guys know.

That was my first thought … Clorox? I wonder how much they’ll even out the effects of the special by shopping their products around?
