George “El Guapo’ Roush posted a note on LatinoReview.com that a remake of “The Thing” is in the works.
Roush spoke with director Marc Abraham, whose new movie, Flash of Genius, will be in theaters Oct. 17, 2008. A future project of Abraham’s is producing a remake of the 1982 horror classic John Carpenter’s The Thing, about a shape-shifting alien that’s revived after being frozen in ice.
Abraham revealed that the movie would be “more of a prequel than a sequel,” and would chronicle the events leading up to the 1982 film.
This is big news for John Carpenter fans, who — like me — are geeked about finding out what happened leading up to the 1982 film. And please. We don’t need another remake of, well, any movie, so I’m glad this is shaping up to be a totally different film. Yowza!
Any thoughts on this? Think you’ll be first in line at the theater?

Well, I’d certainly be ‘first’ inline at a different cinema to the one Ron is going to …as he will be first at his choosen one already – so obviously can’t be first at that one. …unnnleeessssss, he contracts ‘Swine Flu’ …then yes, I’d be first inline ;)) Hmmm but which one was Ron going to …and what if his cinema opens to movie before the one I would have picked …jeez, now I’m going to have too track Ron down via his ‘ips number’ and… WHOOOOA ….wait one sweet second …what if the movie isn’t even made …then I’d not even have the slightest chance of being the first inline …hell, what if it’s not even a ‘line’, but more of a zig-zag formation …OH GOD …now I’m even too stressed to comment on the movie in question!!! I HATE MOVIES, LEAVING COMMENTS …AND ‘LINES’(BUT LOVE THE IDEA OF A PREQUEL TO ‘The THING’).
Good day…
The Thing is my all time favorite horror movie. I would love to see a prequel and a sequel. Iwould definitely be first in line for either.
