The Stars Come Out for ‘Tropic Thunder’ Premiere

If I didn’t know better, I’d probably think the recent California premiere of the new Ben Stiller flick Tropic Thunder was *the* biggest movie event of the year. It seems like every star and quite a few generic celebrities, too, came out of hiding to walk the red carpet and see the film before the rest of us.

The huge to-do took place at Mann’s Village Theater in Los Angeles on Monday, August 11, and the film opens in the United States today (August 13). Director Stiller co-wrote the action comedy with fellow actor Justin Theroux (John Adams, Six Feet Under, The District) and assembled a cast that includes familiar film faces Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr., and himself, of course.

The tagline for the flick basically says it all: The movie they think they’re making… isn’t a movie anymore. In other words, through circumstances beyond their control (or due to their own stupidity), a group of actors filming a major motion picture suddenly find themselves forced to become their soldier characters in real life. Sounds interesting to me.
