First of all, I have to apologize to you all for just now letting you know. I was just so disappointed on Friday afternoon when, after several times rescheduling the Hugh Laurie, Katie Jacobs interview, my contact at FOX (he’s terrific, it’s not his fault!) sent out this email message:
Due to a last minute change in the production schedule, we have to cancel the HOUSE conference call. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and hope to reschedule something in the near future.
I was so bummed out that I instantly called my friend Cindy, a fellow House fan, to whine about it. Luckily, Cindy is extremely practical and told me:
Well, Lynn, they have to actually MAKE the show, you know.
LOL! But I put off posting it because I was still in a form of denial. (I’m sorry…)
But then, last night I got so excited again to watch Hugh Laurie finally win his Emmy award and to see House win again as Best Drama. And was furious when both were overlooked.
Instead of writing it all over again, I’ll just refer back to my previous post from another disappointing Emmy Awards show to tell you how I really feel about it.
So now I have to throw off the sadness, because (finally!!) tonight is the season premiere for season 6 of House. Thank goodness! Some great news for House fans!!
So be sure to tune in for the two-hour season premiere of House tonight on FOX at 8:00 pm ET.

perhaps they canceling the conference call is a good, means they are working hard and don’t have time for these things… ôo
and about the Emmy… there are three shows who always win (30 Rock, Daily Show and Breaking Bad) for some reason the judges or whoever who decide who win like they and is stupid… but since season 4 and 5 weren’t that good, maybe we just need a very good season for House and Hugh to win an award… and maybe is this season 6 (if the whole season be just as good and the first episode)
@ eric…shut the hell up!!…anyway…i loved it and i can’t wait to see it again.i thought the sex scene between house and lydia was NICE!!!
I thought it was actually disappointing as far as House goes. It seemed like a cheap remake of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest at the beginning, had a very shallow development with some random woman that served little purpose other than to add a little mushy atmosphere and provide House with an experience to “work through his ordeal,” which wasn’t nearly as traumatic or serious as I had been telling myself. I mean, come on-they ended last season with his hallucination of Amber whispering in his ear and freaking out the viewer, when it turns out he has no mental problems or issues at all and the hallucinations aren’t so much as alluded to! This premiere wasn’t nearly as climactic at any given time as the previews let on or it should have been, and House was missing his character altogether. It seemed like they tried to show that he was still House with a little rebellion and social disgrace at the start, then threw it away for an hour of feel-good-recuperation and heart-warming scenes. If this is any indication of the new season, which looks like a whole lot of recycled plot developments they’ve already tried, including more “i quit or you’re fired” and “oh no! more coworker relationship drama,” then I may actually have to say goodbye to what was a good series.
There were so many touching moments in tonight’s premiere that by the time they got to the cello scene, where Lydia’s friend finally broke through her silence and catatonia and picked up the cello to perform for everyone, I was in tears. They could NOT have written this premiere any better. In the beginning, after the detox, when House was just trying to scam his way out, I kept thinking boy, this is TWISTED – and smiling the whole time – but after he stopped trying his scams and started trying to cooperate, to get better, or at least try to get better, my heart was breaking for him.
But as it turns out, the spoilers were misleading just like they always are… I think Fox did a great job releasing just enough to keep our appetites over the summer whetted, but not spoil anything. I was of course very disappointed that our multi talented Hugh didn’t come away with an Emmy, but I knew I had tonight’s premiere to look forward to, and it was well worth the wait!! As of now, I’ve seen the premiere twice and I’m probably going to watch it a third time tonight. I always like the music they use on House and I was afraid tonight’s episode was not going to have much music in it, but boy I was plesantly surprised and the talent show was the absolute best… and completely not what I expected :) Turns out the man can rap too!!
This premiere was the absolute best episode in the entire series.
It even beats Three Stories.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!So Excited for tonights 2 hour episode…i dont want to get overly excited cuz i dont want to be dissipointed…but i know i wont be, I have been waiting foe this for soooooo long! I dont want to see more of this site because it contains MAJOR spoilers, but i want to see the spoilers so much but i wont.I have to keep strong..
XOXOXO To everybody who views this, from Houseluver
I was also disappointed! Last season was by far the most entertaining and superior to other shows as well. I can’t believe the Academy stretched and went outside the box on the supporting acting winners but stuck with what they knew for lead actors and actresses (I am a fan of The Closer, too).
There is always next year. :)
hugh is not considering leaving
I am even more upset to learn that Hugh stated that he is considering leaving House in order to regain his health. He states that the limp that he needs to use in the show has become problematic and he is now in constant hip and knee pain because of it. It would be OK by me if they were to heal the thigh pain issue with House either by surgery or whatever to correct the limp but he could still keep his addiction to Vicadin. “HOUSE, MD” is the award winning show that it is because of Hugh Laurie and it would simply not survive losing him.
I live in the Netherlands, so this news about the emmy’s and Hugh is new to me. But, put your chin up Lynn, Hugh will win that emmy again next year, cause he deserves it! Besides, Stephen has come to visit him again, I bet he enjoys that a thousand times more that a stupid emmy award! XD Emmy or not he is still a great actor… He doesn’t need a emmy to be absolutely fabulous XD HAVE A GREAT TIME WATCHING THE SEASON PREMIERE TONIGHT, I’LL BE WATCHING IT TOMORROW ON THE INTERNET OR SOMETHING!
I also can’t wait to see the show tonight!! Will you attempt to try to setup another interview?
I would love to know if you do. I was VERY shocked that Hugh Laurie didn’t win, i think its all rigged anyway.
Natalie :0)
I didn’t have hope for the show to win (although it will be always be #1, no matter how weak a season might have been imo) – but I was really disappointed that Hugh didn’t receive the well deserved award! But let’s see it that way: he will always be the winner of our hearts, our number 1, no matter what some blind jury says :-)
(BTW your friend Cindy has a very pragmatic POV, I like it :D)
