Us Weekly magazine printed this Season 6 cast photo last week, which features the official cast for the final season in a recreation of da Vinci’s The Last Supper. In the photo, Jesus’ spot is taken by John Locke, with all of the other characters looking at him suspiciously. The placement of the other characters could also hold some significance; for example, several fans have already noted that Jack is standing in the same place as “Doubting” Thomas.

I’m struck by the semi-Golgotha imagery behind (and arguably beneath) the characters and, further back, the lighting in the sky. There’s either a pretty straightforward redemption theme here or it’s an elaborate red herring.

a bigger question would be…who’s arm is that in upper right corner?? It appears to be female and looks like they’re holding up the sun…

There is some writing in the top right but it’s very faint and it looks like it might be backwards. . . such an interesting picture.

ABC has released an official, high-res version of the “Lost Supper” image, and none of the writing or the large arm on the right side appear in it. So those are probably just overlapping images from the Us Weekly spread.
As for Desmond, sadly he is not considered part of the main cast for Season 6, though he will be appearing intermittently.
