I’ve been looking forward to more news on The Ivy Chronicles, a film in development about an upper-middle-class NYC mom (Sarah Jessica Parker) who’s forced to start over after getting divorced and losing her high-powered job.
Now Warner Bros. has attached Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote The Devil Wears Prada, to pen the script. Based on a novel by Karen Quinn, the project has drawn comparisons to “Prada,” as well as The Nanny Diaries and The Starter Wife.
McKenna recently penned the Katherine Heigl rom-com 27 Dresses, which earned $158 million worldwide. She’s also writing the romantic comedy Still You and re-teaming with “Prada” director Daniel Frankel on the working-mom film, I Don’t Know How She Does It.
With all the bad news in the world, don’t you feel like we’re just hungry for a great romantic comedy? I know I am. It’s too bad they’re so few and far between these days, although I love all of the ones mentioned above. Well, love might be too strong a word for “27 Dresses.” I thought it was cute.
