The Haunted Mansion Decks the Halls

DSC01855 This past weekend, I went to Disneyland with only one purpose — to see The Haunted Mansion all decked out for Halloween. . . or should I say Christmas? It’s a Halloween tradition to turn the mansion into The Nightmare Before Christmas and the makeover is beyond amazing.

In addition to the fabulous landscaping, the entire ride is re-themed for Jack Skellington and his friends including Zero instead of a floating candelabra down the hall, a giant Jack face in the ceiling of the elevator insteadDSC01861 of a hanged man and sweet sewed-up Sally bidding you to “come baaaack” at the end of the ride.

Even the traditional “Grim Grinning Ghosts” song is temporarily replaced with a new tune in celebration of the haunted holiday. The most amazing part of the transformation is the ballroom scene which sports a huge Christmas tree and a coffin cake on the dining table just waiting for the ghosts to dig in.

It’s worth a trip to Disneyland (and even the 45 minute wait in line) just to see this old favorite ride’s spooky, holiday make-over.
