In Lynn’s first post on the site, she talked about the use of color to give each CSI series their own look and feel.
This is what Lynn had to say:
For one thing, as a person that works as a web designer (the day job), I noticed that the three shows are even filmed in supersaturated colors that are distinctly their own. For example, the next time you watch an episode of CSI: Miami, you might pay attention to the fact that everything seems to have a “golden” glow. It’s like they filmed it through a golden filter.
Then, compare the next episode of CSI: New York. It has a definite bluish tint to it, much like they used a blue filter when filming it.
And then, watch the next CSI: Vegas and you’ll see that they film it with what looks like a red filter.
I may lose a few people here, but it’s similar to the way George Lucas used color to divide the original three Star Wars episodes: A New Hope (Brown/Earth tones), Empire Strikes Back (Black/White), Return of the Jedi (Green). This is no surprise to the folks in charge either, they’ve even made it quite clear on the CBS websites for each show.
